Articulated truck-mounted machines are needed when there are obstacles between the stabilised truck and the point of intervention. The mobile lifting arm is equipped with devices that can overcome obstacles or impediments and bring the personnel inside the basket to the right height and the point of intervention easily. Articulated aerial platforms consist of a carriage with a slewing ring to which hydraulic mechanical support is attached, on which are anchored multi-articulated, extendable arms.

Advantage: possibility of crossing obstacles between the stabilised vehicle and the intervention point.

Disadvantage: When working at low heights, the shape of the articulated mechanical booms exceeds the volume described by the truck anchored to the ground. This entails a greater study of the intervention spaces to allow free rotation of the booms even at low heights.
